JEWELRY
It seems to be an extremely rare, almost impossible, occurance where we don't see a picture of Johnny Depp where he isn't wearing any type of jewelry. His necklaces, rings, bracelets, and other trinkets have become part of his overall personality. So here is a quick look at Johnny's most common material pieces.
Around his neck, Johnny wears a silver dog tag necklace with a portrait of Che Guevara etched into it; a tiger tooth is also included with the dog tag. He also wears a necklace of the Hindu deity Lord Ganesh, who is considered to be the "remover of obstacles." Other necklaces that he wears are: a longer silver chain with a shiny medallion--which is engraved with the name and birthdate of his daughter, Lily-Rose; and the Gonzo necklace which Johnny wears in honor of his friend, Hunter Thompson. Other necklaces include one made of colorful beads and another of small skulls.
Johnny Depp wears many skull rings. He wears a silver skull ring on the ring finger of each hand. He has worn the
silver skull ring on his left hand since the Dead Man period. The silver skull ring on his right hand
is similar, but not identical, to the one on his left hand; the skull ring on his right hand has The Brave
symbol on its left side panel and the number 3 on its right side panel; there are also three rectangles on the top
of the skull, corresponding to the tattoo on Johnny's right index finger.
He also has a gold skull ring that was given to him by the celebrity jewelry designer Neil Lane and a gold Cherokee
head ring that was given to him by Vanessa Paradis for his 40th birthday. The Cherokee ring honors his ancestry and
is often worn on his left index finger.
Johnny owns two rings from the Pirates set. One is a silver skull ring that has wonderful
detail which includes Jack Sparrow's scarf and piece of eight; he received this ring as a gift from the set of
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. The other is a replica of a gold ring that Jack Sparrow wears in
the Pirates movies. The gold ring is a replica of a ring from the seventeenth century of Rome; the original was
borrowed from an aquiatene for use in Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, but it mysteriously
turned up missing in the middle of filming.
On his right wrist, Johnny has worn a brown leather cuff since the days of Platoon. He also wears a bracelet of colorful beads that was made for him by his daughter, Lily-Rose. In memory of Dustin, the boy who passed away from cancer, Johnny wears a silver and leather bracelet that is engraved with the following: "Today is a gift... have fun." On his left wrist, Johnny sometimes wears a decorated scarf that was made from one of the two shirts that his children made for him.
On his right belt loop, Johnny wears the beads and silver medallion which decorated Captain Jack Sparrow's red bandana.
